How Does The Local Government Lure People into Visiting The Driftless Area?
The economic principle I’m exploring is “people generally respond to incentives in predictable ways.”
My research question to help me study the economic principle is “how do governments lure people into visiting parks and other areas?"
The article published in Journal Central titled "Trout Fishing Has $1.6 Billion Annual Economic Impact in Driftless Area" demonstrates this economic principle because it shows that people are more likely to visit a place that is well kept and offers benefits in the form of beauty, rather than somewhere that isn't as well cleaned. The local Wisconsin government allows access to the streams and rivers in the area to organizations such as Trout Unlimited, who clean and restore the waterways for people enjoy at their full potential and greatest beauty. The local government also funds outings where visitors are able to do bird watching, bird banding, and learn about birds in the area. This is a huge success and greatly increases the number of visitors to the area.
In my next blog post I will research: How the local government lures people into visiting Glacier NP.
