How do companies get you to buy their product?

The economic principle I’m exploring is “People Generally respond to incentives in predictable ways”
My research question to help me study the economic principle is “What do companies do to keep you loyal?
The article published in USC titled “Psychology Behind Developing Brand Loyalty
” demonstrates this economic principle because it shows how companies entice customers to keep buying
their products.
First, The use of color is crucial to getting a customer to buy a product. Brands logos use certain colors
for a reason. Different colors tend to represent different ideas so products must be designed with these in
mind. What people see will determine how they feel about the brand’s personality. For example Apple’s use
of colors is quite consistent with white dominating the palette. This evokes cleanliness, simplicity and
elegance. Their products have also become symbols of luxury and advanced technology.
Second, A products name or a slogan gives off a huge impression on the customer. Product names often
go through rigorous consultations before they are finalized. Consumers tend to go for names which sound
more expensive than the competition. If they read something plain, then they are likely to look elsewhere.
They make value judgments based on their perception of sophistication.
Third, Brands try to align themselves with you. Brands can identify themselves as belonging to a certain
social categorization such as the youth. Loyalty is fostered by telling the target consumers that the brand is
on their side as opposed to their competitors.
