What Incentives Are Offered for People to Visit Yosemite?

Economic Principle:  People react to incentives in predictable ways

Yosemite is one of the most popular National Parks int he country.  It attracts well over 4 million visitors a year.  How does the number of visitors continue to increase so greatly year after year?According to the Yosemite Conservancy, money donated and raised goes to "improve trails, restore habitat, and enhance the visitor experience at one of the park’s most famous features".  One such feature is Bridalveil Fall.  This waterfall is one of the most popular sites in the park, and due to the recent increase in visitors, the trails, campgrounds, and habitats around the fall have been getting destroyed.  According to the website, trail restoration is the number one focus of the park.  Yosemite has over 800 miles of trails, nearly all of which are being renovated along with the trail-heads and other access points.  These improvements to habitat and trails draw in more visitors because they make the park more beautiful, easy to access, and rewarding for visitors.  Yosemite's incentives that draw in visitors are access to clean, untouched wilderness, and well kept trails and visitor sites.

Next Blog Post:  I will be researching how they lure visitors to a much more different and remote park in Alaska, Gates of The Arctic NP.
